Great excitement in the Fluidata office this week when our founder and MD, Piers Daniell, was named ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ in the 2013 London Loves Excellence awards (from the business title LondonLovesBusiness.com). The award is a huge honour, all the more so as the competition for all categories was impressive. Other award winners included Ink, Addison Lee and Pret a Manger; and Charlie Mullins of Pimlico Plumbers picked up a Special Recognition Award. Piers’ award was handed to him by Karen Brady, who was also one of the judges. The judging panel was chaired by Willie Walsh, now Chief Executive of International Airlines Group, and President of the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry. LondonLovesBusiness.com summarised the decision thus: “This 31-year-old tech whizz founded his first company aged 15, going on to launch data communications company Fluidata age 23. He’s grown revenues by around 45 percent annually and boats 95 percent customer retention. This was a close-run race, but the judges felt that Piers had shown very precocious entrepreneurial and management savvy in a very technical niche with tons of potential. He’s created incredibly scalable operations and sales structures to realise consistently rapid growth.” The evening was presented by Katie Derham. Piers was also profiled in Londonlovesbusiness.com recently, and Fluidata was named by the title as one of six ‘amazing technologies’ coming out of London in March this year.
