Today Fluidata has announced the investment in its business by Rigby Group plc. Rigby Group is the parent company for a portfolio of privately owned and highly successful businesses operating across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. The £2 billion business, owned by Sir Peter Rigby, has interests in the technology, airports, hotels, real estate, financial and aviation sectors. Among Rigby Group businesses is Europe’s principal independent technology provider SCC.

Fluidata is listed in the Megabuyte50 awards

Fluidata has been fortunate enough to be involved, and list in, the inaugural year of the Megabuyte50 awards. Fluidata was unveiled as one of the Top 50, best-performing privately-owned technology companies in the UK mid-market. Megabuyte is an independent research provider, tracking the corporate and financial affairs of some 1,500 of Europe’s key public and private companies in the ICT Services and Software sectors. Megabuyte’s founder and CEO, Ian Spence, is one of the technology sector’s most established and respected financial analysts. In January 2015, and for the second year running (since the inaugural awards), Spence was recognised by Debrett’s and The Sunday Times as one of the 20 most influential people in the UK technology sector.

UK Schools Suffering from the Digital Divide

It’s a sad state of affairs when over half of the schools in the UK are suffering from a lack of access to high-speed Internet. However, a recent report has shown that 65% of primary schools and 54% of secondary schools have complained about lack of Internet connectivity, leaving thousands of children on the lower end of the digital divide.

However, a recent report has highlighted yet another problem caused by the digital divide as thousands of families may soon be unable to claim child tax breaks due to the fact that they do not have access to the Internet.

One of the biggest complaints is that even with all this technology there is still numerous areas across the UK that suffer from rural broadband issues with no resolution in sight. In fact, a recent report has shown that those that live in rural areas are more concerned over broadband connections than those that live in urban ones.
